Spring is finally here!
There’s a reason we have added a new description to our bed and breakfast- for 15 years we’ve been simply known as Walking Iron Bed and Breakfast. We’ve always realized what a tremendously beautiful site we have here, located just yards from the Black Earth Creek, a “class 1″ trout stream. This is one of the reasons you’ll see our new tag line- A Villa by the Stream!
The amazing beauty of the stream and wildlife that inhabits our surroundings continually surprises us- from the blue heron soaring just a foot from the water to the splash of a turtle- we’re fortunate to be able to glance out our windows and see amazing creatures and plant life.
Those of you wishing to explore the stream while you stay with us will find so much to see and do- fishing, tubing, kayaking, or simply strolling along the banks and dipping your toes in the cool, clear water!
Here’s a description of the Black Earth Creek from the Wisconsin DNR website:
Black Earth Creek Fishery Area is a pleasant mix of a high quality trout stream flowing within a wide green agricultural valley. The parcels typically mix stream stretches with adjoining riparian corridors that grade from a wet margin of jewelweed, aster, and reed canary grass into shrub, then sparse woodlot, then pasture or cultivated crop. The corridor alternates from open to partially canopied. There are small pockets of low lying sedge and wetland. The stream is a class 1 coldwater fishery characterized by high gradient, coarse substrates, with much meandering and pleasant riffle – pool sequences. Recognized as a premier trout destination and regionally significant and unique resource, much attention has focused here.
Here is a great link to a blog about trout fishing- just imagine, checking into the b&b, grabbing your gear and walking 30 feet (yes- 30 feet!) to your own private trout stream!
We hope you can Escape to Elegance with us…and our Villa by the Stream!
